MPD: Suspect arrested in woman’s suspicious death

Milwaukee police have a suspect in custody after the sudden death of a 53-year-old woman.

The victim’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Police responded to a home near Becher and Forest Home around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Detectives worked closely with a forensic investigator from the Medical Examiner’s Office and determined the victim’s death was suspicious.

Police are still trying to determine how she died.

Her son lives nearby and said he was awakened by police knocking on his door.

He said his mother, Rosa Rivera, was the victim.

“She’s just amazing, beautiful, crazy, strong woman that I love so much. It’s just crazy that she’s gone,” Sergio Rivera said. “My mom is one of the strongest people I’ve ever met, or the strongest.
