Authorities identified the body as Lopez-Elbanks on Saturday morning. His body was burned so badly, according to officials, that it took extra time to properly identify him.
A longtime Walmart employee died during his shift Sunday morning, and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department believes his death is suspicious.
The 54-year-old man collapsed at the store on Marconi Avenue in Arden-Arcade and died while being taken to a hospital, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.
The man had earlier told coworkers that he was “involved in an altercation” before he started his shift at 4 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Department.
“At this point, the Sheriff’s Department is investigating this as a suspicious death, and it is unclear if potential injuries from the earlier assault contributed to the victim’s death,” the release said.
Detectives asked anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP.

Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a golfer whose body was found Monday morning at a course in Ames.
Police responded at 10:24 a.m. to the Coldwater Links golf course for a report of suspicious circumstances after golfers found a golf bag with no one near it on the course. Officers then found a body “some distance away,” police said in a statement.
Ames Police Cmdr. Geoff Huff released few details during a news conference at City Hall, declining to comment on where the body was found or what injuries the person suffered. He called on the public to contact police if they saw anything suspicious.
