Woman arrested on tampering charge connected to suspicious death

Ashlie A. Velasquez, a “person of interest” in a suspicious July 4 death, is being held in the Hancock County jail on a tampering with evidence charge.

Hancock County Sheriff Mike Heldman declined to say what evidence Velasquez, 29, allegedly tampered with.

The sheriff’s office had been trying to locate her since Boe N. Bushong, 22, of rural Mount Blanchard, died July 4 at his residence on Amanda Township 194. The two were in a relationship, according to their Facebook pages.

Asked if additional charges against Velasquez might be possible, Heldman said, “I would say that is a possibility, depending how the investigation goes.”

She was arrested Friday after the sheriff’s office got a warrant to check the apartment investigators believed her to be in, Heldman said.

That location — the Redwood apartments on Soldier Drive and Veterans Lane, off Fostoria Avenue
