If you crush on blue-blooded British detectives, here’s a book for you

Fiction readers who crush on blue-blooded British detectives will fall hard for Victorian-era sleuth Charles Lenox, if they haven’t already. Lenox first appeared in Charles Finch’s well-received 2007 novel “A Beautiful Blue Death.” Lenox’s exploits, laid out in 10 subsequent novels, now share shelf space with other aristocratic crime solvers — Dorothy L. Sayers’s Lord Peter Wimsey, Elizabeth George’s Inspector Thomas Lynley, and Maisie Dobbs, Jacqueline Winspear’s private detective who was widow of a viscount. Like these other royal relations, Lenox is independently wealthy and has answered a higher calling to ferret out justice for his fellow citizens.

Homicide Detectives Investigating After Ranger Finds Woman’s Body at Griffith Park

Homicide detectives are investigating after the dead body of a woman was found at Griffith Park Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers got a call about a woman believed to be 30 to 40 years old found inside a sleeping bag wrapped in a blanket near Red Oak and Fern Dell drives, LAPD Officer Sal Ramirez said.

A park ranger had discovered the body before authorities were called to the scene, LAPD Captain Arturo Sandoval said.

Coroner’s officials later determined foul play was involved, Ramirez said, and police have described it as a “suspicious death.”

The intersection provided by Ramirez is near one of the main entrances to the park, but aerial video from Sky5 showed police investigating along Western Canyon Road, farther north into the park.

LAPD has not released other details about the ongoing homicide investigation.

KTLA’s Nidia Becerra contributed to this report.

Yuba County detectives are investigating the death of an Olivehurst man as a homicide after deputies found his body along Feather River Boulevard on Wednesday morning.

Jose “Juan” Lule, 33, was discovered near an agriculture business in the 1900 block of Feather River Boulevard after a 911 call just before 7 a.m. reporting a body on the side of the road, according to a Yuba County Sheriff’s Department press release. The sheriff’s department said Wednesday that investigators believed Lule’s body had been on the side of the road for less than 24 hours and were considering his death to be suspicious due to where he was found and visible injury to the body.

OLIVEHURST — Yuba County detectives are now investigating the death of a 33-year-old Olivehurst man as a homicide.

Deputies say Jose “Juan” Lule was found dead Wednesday near an agricultural business on Feather River Road.

The victim’s sister is now pleading for any answers in her brother’s murder.

In family photos, Lule can often be spotted next to his five children, his youngest is just nine years old, his oldest is 12.

“He’s a great dad, he’s a great brother,” said Maria Carmen Valencia, Lule sister.

Fighting back tears, Valencia and her family put up a memorial at the place where Lule was found dead, in a muddy field just outside of Olivehurst.

“We want to know why it happened, who did it,” she said.

Yuba County deputies say on Wednesday they received a call from a driver reporting a body lying in a puddle of water. That’s where deputies say the found Lule’s body.
