Authorities identify person of interest in Laconia homicide investigation

Investigators identified a person of interest in a homicide investigation in Laconia early Wednesday.

The Attorney General’s Office said Hassan Sapry, 21 of Laconia, is a person of interest in the death of Wilfred Guzman, Sr. on Friday.

Investigators said Sapry was last seen on Pleasant Street Tuesday afternoon and is believed to be on foot. He should be considered armed and dangerous, officials said.

Laconia police confirmed to News 9 that a search warrant was executed on Pleasant Street in connection with Guzman’s death.

Guzman’s death was ruled a homicide on Saturday.

A News 9 crew on scene early Wednesday morning saw the state major crime unit van parked on Pleasant Street, with police tape surrounding a house and multiple police officers on the scene.

The Attorney General’s Office told News 9 the investigation into Guzman’s death was ongoing.

Suspicious Death in Laconia, NH Ruled as Homicide

New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and state police announced an autopsy was conducted Saturday on a Laconia, N.H. resident.

Wilfred Guzman, Sr., 57, was discovered deceased inside his Laconia home on April 19.

Dr. Christine James of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of Guzman’s death was blunt and sharp force trauma to the head. The manner is ruled as a homicide.

New Hampshire State Police and Laconia Police are investigating the circumstances of Guzman’s death. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Sgt. Matthew Amatucci of the New Hampshire State Police at (603) 223-4381.

Officials said the person who died was an adult man, and an autopsy is scheduled to be performed Saturday morning.

“It’s a big shock, kind of scary,” former neighbor Twila Teseniar said. “You don’t really know what’s happening. Are we in danger? Because we don’t really know what’s going on.”

‘Suspicious death’ under investigation in Laconia, NH




Law enforcement officials responded to Laconia, N.H., to investigate a suspicious death Friday, authorities said.

State Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald’s confirmed the probe in a brief statement.

“Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Christopher J. Wagner, and Laconia Police Chief Matthew Canfield announce that officials are responding to a suspicious death in Laconia, New Hampshire,” the release said. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Prosecutors didn’t immediately disclose the victim’s name, gender or age or provide information on a preliminary cause of death.

No arrests have been reported.
