BAKERSFIELD, CA. — Bakersfield Police are still investigating the death of a woman from Sunday morning, however they are saying now that she may have been attacked by one or more dogs.
Around 6 a.m. Sunday morning BPD was called out the Costco parking lot off of Rosedale Highway, where a woman’s body was found with what officers say were obvious signs of trauma. The exact cause of death is still being determined by the Kern County Coroner’s Office but BPD is saying that she was likely attacked by one or more dogs before her death.
Animal control officers have located and apprehended all of the dogs.
“Officers are still looking for any evidence, witnesses and the investigation is ongoing,” said Sgt. Sean Morphis of the Bakersfield Police Department.

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (CNS) – An Oceanside resident was arrested Thursday on suspicion of killing an acquaintance who had been staying with him.
A 911 caller reported the suspected homicide in an apartment in the 3200 block of Mission Cove Way in Oceanside shortly before noon, police spokesman Tom Bussey said.
Patrol officers arrived to find the 41-year-old victim dead on the floor of the rental residence near Mission Avenue and Foussat Road with visible upper body trauma. His name was withheld pending family notification.
After questioning the resident, 66-year-old Michael Charles Newton, detectives arrested him on suspicion of inflicting the fatal wounds, Bussey said.
Police disclosed no suspected motive.
Some neighbors told 10News they would often see the 41-year-old man walking down the sidewalk and yelling up to the third-floor apartment to be let inside.
According to neighbors, Newton would sometimes throw food or water off his balcony to the younger man.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 51-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a 49-year-old woman from the Town of Tonawanda.
Prosecutors say Mario Turner has been arrested for criminally negligent homicide and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say he shot his 49-year-old wife Renee Taschetta. She was found dead at 59 Dumas Place in Tonawanda Tuesday night.
He is due back in court Monday.
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says police had been called to the home multiple times for domestic violence related issues.
Mary Murphy with the Family Justice Center says these deaths are preventable, and help is out there.
“It devestates us, it horrifies us,” she said of Taschetta’s death. “We want people to know this is preventable.”

HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire law enforcement authorities say they are investigating a suspicious death in the town of Hampton.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s office announced the investigation on Saturday, but provided no additional details about the individual who died, what made the death suspicious or when it occurred.
The investigation is continuing and officials say they will release more information when it becomes available.

Formal charges were filed April 22 after a months-long investigation of a fatal drug overdose, according to a press release from Franklin County Prosecutor Christopher Huerkamp.
Kelly Neville, 31, Metamora, has been charged with dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, a Level 1 felony, for her alleged role in the death of Jeffrey Shultz, 29, Metamora.
On Oct. 7, 2018, officers responded to Family Dollar, Metamora, after a report of a suspicious death. They discovered the lifeless body of Shultz in the men’s restroom. Following an autopsy, Dr. Dorothy Dean, a pathologist with the Hamilton County, Ohio, Coroner’s Office, determined that Shultz had died of an overdose involving acetyl fentanyl, fentanyl and heroin, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Ryan Geiser and filed in Franklin Circuit Court.

BOCA RATON, Fla. —
The Boca Raton Police Department is investigating what it’s calling the suspicious death of a man who was a patient at ManorCare Health Services Nursing Home on West Yamato Road.
Police responded to the Boca Raton Regional Hospital emergency room around 7:45 Friday morning. The man had been taken there by ambulance after he was found on the floor next to his bed in his room around 6:30 a.m. by staff.
When the Boca Fire Rescue Department got to ManorCare, staff were performing CPR but the man later died at the hospital. Staff at ManorCare reported that they last saw the patient at around 4:30 a.m., wandering the halls, before he was brought back to his room. PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. — The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious deaths of a man and toddler, who were found Sunday in a burned vehicle north of Ridgley, Missouri.
A caller reported seeing human remains inside a burning vehicle shortly after 7 a.m. in the 20000 block of North County Road B.
Deputies said the remains of an adult male and a toddler are believed to be in the vehicle.
“The vehicle is extremely charred, so it’s not easily identifiable just by looking at it,” Platte County Sheriff’s Maj. Erik Holland said. “We’re going to be trying to locate VIN numbers and things like that to confirm the actual vehicle.”
The investigation remains ongoing, but authorities are calling the vehicle fire suspicious.
“We’re still working it as a suspicious death,” Holland said. “We work all deaths fully until we exactly know what the cause of the death is.”
