Pensacola man lived with mom’s body for 2 days before police were called, PPD says


Pensacola man discusses why he lived with mother’s body for two days before sharing details of her death her family members who told police.

Pensacola police are investigating what they say is the suspicious death of a woman whose son lived with her body for two days before calling family members early Wednesday and telling them she was dead.

Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department, said family members called police, who then responded to the Colony House Apartments on Scenic Highway and found the woman’s body. 

Wood said late Wednesday that police were awaiting autopsy results and had not  determined a cause of death. 

“This case is not over,” he said.

The woman’s son, 34-year-old Matt Mumby, identified her as Libby Wilson, 71.

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Officers with the Pensacola Police Department are investigating a suspicious death. According to PPD Public Information Officer Mike Wood, officers are investigating the area between Lloyd Street and Lee Street.

Pensacola police investigating ‘suspicious’ death on East Lee Street

Pensacola police have launched a death investigation near 11th Avenue and Lee Street this morning.

Police are investigating a death in the 1000 block of East Lee Street that is “suspicious in nature,” according to Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department.

A portion of 11th Avenue between Lloyd and Lee streets is closed as officers investigate the case.

Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.

Pensacola police investigate homicide on East Lee Street


Police were dispatched to East Lee Street shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, and by 8:14 a.m., officers had arrived on scene, according to Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department.

Pensacola police have launched a homicide investigation after a body was found Wednesday morning at a home on East Lee Street.

James H. Royster, 66, of Pensacola, was found dead at 1035 E. Lee St., according to Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department.

Police on Wednesday afternoon were questioning one suspect in the case, and Wood said there was no danger to the public. The suspect’s identify has not been released.

Authorities also have not released information on how Royster died 

“The manner of death is still under investigation,” Wood said.

Man arrested after body found on West Pensacola Street

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man is facing felony charges after a body was found off of West Pensacola Street Tuesday afternoon.

Little Daniel Owens, 41, was arrested early Wednesday morning.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, officers responded to the woods near the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street in reference to a body found burning among a pile of clothes.

Police say Owens was identified as a suspect during the investigation and transported to TPD headquarters for questioning.

Probable cause was established to charge Owens with abuse of a dead human body. TPD says additional charges are pending.

Authorities have not confirmed how the victim died or if Owens was involved in the victim’s death.

Man charged with homicide after body found along West Pensacola Street

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Neighbors along West Pensacola Street are upset over the horrific details surrounding a murder on Tuesday.

Little Daniel Owens, 41, has been charged with killing a woman and burning her body. We’re told Owens and the victim lived together off of West Pensacola Street in Tallahassee.

Owens is also being charged with abusing the dead body. It is not clear whether the woman died from injuries sustained during the fire or if she was killed beforehand.

“It takes a certain type of person to be able to burn another person’s body,” one Tallahassee resident who wished to remain anonymous stated.

Those who knew the victim were shattered when they found out.

“I just saw her walking the other day. I wish I would’ve spoken to her,” Jermaine, a Tallahassee native, said. “It really hurts
