WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) — Police say a 19-year-old man found dead Friday at home on Wausau’s west side died from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was identified as Troy Wilcox.
An investigation began around 3 p.m. on June 7. Officers and ambulance were dispatched to a home on the 300 block N 2nd Avenue for a report of teen that had died. The reporting party was a family member, according to police.
The death was deemed suspicious and investigated as a homicide.
Witnesses said Wilcox was last seen alive at home in the early morning hours while drinking with a group of friends. One of the friends, David Anselmo, 19, was said to be the last friend at the party.
While officers spoke with the family, Anselmo returned to the scene.

Austin police say a 28-year-old man was found dead at a North Austin hotel room Sunday night and authorities are investigating it as a homicide.
Police received at 8:05 p.m. a 911 report of shots fired in the Quality Inn and Suites Downtown North at 7928 Gessner Dr. Witnesses said they saw several individuals running through the hotel lobby around the time of the incident, Officer Marcos Johnson said.
Officers responding to the call saw a door open in one of the floors and found a man down with signs of trauma, Johnson said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not say how the victim died and have not identified him pending notification to next of kin. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, officials said.

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim in the Friday shooting as 47-year-old Jennifer Sanders of Greenfield. Police say they are investigating the fatal shooting as a suspicious death.
Investigators say they believe the shooting is an isolated incident.
GREENFIELD, Tenn. — Greenfield police and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death of a woman found in her Forest Street home Friday afternoon.
According to a news release, Greenfield police responded to the home on the 100 block of Forest Street around 3:45 p.m. Friday and found the woman dead from a gunshot wound.
The woman has not been identified. Her body has been taken for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
Police are not currently searching for any suspects.

SPANISH LAKE, Mo. – A 14-year-old Spanish Lake boy died Sunday after accidentally shooting himself while playing with a gun.
St. Louis County police said Evione Holts was shot inside of his home in the 1700 block of Parktree Lane around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
“When you see yellow tape was up, I knew something bad had happened. You know somebody lost their life,” said a neighbor.
At one point, authorities termed it a suspicious death but the investigation later revealed Holts accidentally shot himself while mishandling a firearm.
Residents said Holts and his family moved in the neighborhood a few years ago. Police said they’re still working to determine the circumstances that led up to the deadly shooting, how Holts got a hold of the weapon, or who the gun belong too.
Detectives said no adults were home when the shots were fired.
It’s unclear at this point if anyone will face charges.
