Pensacola police investigating ‘suspicious’ death on East Lee Street

Pensacola police have launched a death investigation near 11th Avenue and Lee Street this morning.

Police are investigating a death in the 1000 block of East Lee Street that is “suspicious in nature,” according to Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department.

A portion of 11th Avenue between Lloyd and Lee streets is closed as officers investigate the case.

Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.

Pensacola police investigate homicide on East Lee Street

Police were dispatched to East Lee Street shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, and by 8:14 a.m., officers had arrived on scene, according to Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department.

Pensacola police have launched a homicide investigation after a body was found Wednesday morning at a home on East Lee Street.

James H. Royster, 66, of Pensacola, was found dead at 1035 E. Lee St., according to Mike Wood, spokesman for the Pensacola Police Department.

Police on Wednesday afternoon were questioning one suspect in the case, and Wood said there was no danger to the public. The suspect’s identify has not been released.

Authorities also have not released information on how Royster died 

“The manner of death is still under investigation,” Wood said.

Woman Found Dead Along 6th Street: Austin Police

AUSTIN, TEXAS — A woman was found dead early Saturday along 6th Street, and police are trying to figure out how she may have died.

A police officer briefing reporters said the woman was found with injuries throughout her body as they responded to the 100 block of East 6th Street at around 4:15 a.m. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other details were shared, including the woman’s age, race or ethnicity. The officer at the press conference said police are trying to secure any available surveillance camera footage that may have captured the incident prior to the woman’s death.
A reporter asked if perhaps the woman had leapt from a building, but the officer declined to provide specifics as is customary during the early phases of a police investigation.

UPDATE: Man arrested for murder after body found in Midtown street

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) – Update 9:35 a.m.:
Anchorage Police say 25-year-old Martin Kignak has been arrested for Murder 2 in the death investigation on Benson Boulevard. Officers on patrol saw Kignak assaulting the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Monday afternoon police said the patrol officers saw the suspect kicking something, and when they went to investigate, discovered that Kignak was kicking the victim.

Police are still investigating how long the assault lasted and what led up to it.

The victim has not yet been identified as police work to notify family.

Benson Boulevard is back open after being closed for several hours due to a death investigation.

Lafayette police investigating suspicious death on Philomine Street

Lafayette police are continuing to investigate a suspicious death after a woman’s body was found Friday morning north of Cameron Street.

Lafayette Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Bridgette Dugas said the body of a black woman was found at about 10:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Philomine Street.

Dugas said police do not know the cause of death, and it will take several days for the coroner to release that information.

The woman’s identity has not been released.

Police found the woman’s body on private property at the corner of Philomine and Huval streets. Property owner Harold Davis, 55, said he has lived in the neighborhood
