Metro detectives investigate death at hotel on Stephenson Avenue – WSAV

SAVANNAH, Ga. (SCMPD) — Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police’s Violent Crimes detectives are investigating the death of an adult male at the Days Inn in the 200 block of Stephenson Avenue on June 30.

At about 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the hotel and found the male deceased in his room. There were no obvious signs of foul play.

The victim’s name will be released upon notification of next of kin.

The circumstances leading up to the death are still under investigation. The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.

Stuart police investigate suspicious death

STUART, Fla. — Police are investigating a suspicious death in the woods near Lowe’s Home Improvement store in the 3600 block of Federal Highway in Stuart.

Police received a call at approximately 9:30 a.m. about an unresponsive male in the woods.

The man, identified as 51-year-old John Lawson, was pronounced dead at the scene and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were called out to investigate.

Police say Lawson was a homeless man who lived in a small encampment nearby.

The Medical Examiner’s office will determine his cause of death. There were no obvious signs of trauma.

Iowa City police investigate suspicious death of cabdriver

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Police are investigating what officers say is the suspicious death of a cabdriver found in a cab at an Iowa City motel.

Officers found the body early Wednesday morning at the Alexis Park Inn. They soon learned that another cabby, checking on his colleague, had found the body before the officers.

The names of the two cabdrivers have not been released. No arrests have been reported.

Deputies: Suspicious death in Merced County now called a … – Merced Sun

A man found dead in rural Merced County has been determined to be the victim of homicide, the Sheriff’s Office reported on Tuesday.

A man, later identified as Jose Tarin, 25, of Merced, was found on the outskirts of Atwater on the shoulder of the road near Gurr Road and Avenue One, deputies reported. Tarin was shot multiple times and left on the side of the road, deputies said.

The motive for the crime remains unknown, deputies said. Investigators have interviewed witnesses and determined “persons of interest” related to the violence.

Early in the investigation, deputies said, the car in which the man was last seen was found on fire in south Merced.
