Investigators expected to release more info about suspicious death investigation

CORPUS CHRISTI –

Investigators with the Corpus Christi Police Department say they will release more information surrounding a “suspicious death investigation” tomorrow.

According to Senior Officer Travis Pace, with the Corpus Christi Police Department, he says,”Officers were called to a home on the city’s southside before 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

Officer Pace says CCPD officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Caribou Drive for a disturbance.

When officers arrived at a home, they found a person who was deceased and called out for crime scene technicians to document the scene.

Officer Pace says that he expects investigators to release more information about the death investigation Monday morning.

Hours after a suspicious death, cops arrest man they say bragged about stabbing, torching

The same night and very near the same location where a Key Largo woman was found dead inside her smoldering home with wounds police call “suspicious,” another woman said her ex-boyfriend threatened to stab her and burn her house down.

The woman told police the incident happened in the parking lot of the bar where the deceased woman was last seen.

Eddy Lopez Jemot, 50, was arrested on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary charges Monday. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies say that Saturday night he forcefully opened the driver’s side of his ex-girlfriend’s Blue Dodge van parked in front of the Key Largo Veterans of Foreign Wars post, a popular local bar.

Woman questioned about Athens man’s suspicious death was free on bond

A woman who was questioned in connection with an Athens man’s suspicious Oct. 2 death was free on bond from an arrest last month on drug and burglary charges, according to court documents.

The documents were filed in Clarke County Superior Court last week, the day after the death of 41-year-old Jovan Shanta Campbell, who witnesses told police died after he was struck in the head with a baseball bat by a woman with whom he was having a verbal altercation at his home on Park Ridge Court.

Despite statements by eyewitnesses, an autopsy found no indications Campbell died from a blow to the head by a bat, according to police. An officer who responded to a 911 call noted in a police report that when viewing Campbell’s body he “did not notice any major signs of injury or blood on him.”
