Police investigate suspicious death after shots fired call

Albuquerque police are investigating a suspicious death after responding to a shots fired call near the intersection of Elm Street SE and Thaxton Avenue SE on Saturday night, officials said.

Police said they activated a full violent crimes callout. The area was shut down for several hours but has been reopened.

Detectives have identified persons of interest but have not released their descriptions.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Police Investigating Suspicious Death After Discovering Man’s Body in Grand Traverse Co.

A downstate man was found dead in Grand Traverse County.

Michigan State Police identified the man as 62-year-old Marc Ruben from Farmington Hills.

His death is being treated as suspicious.

Police received a call from ice fishermen Tuesday night around 9:30 about a body near Karlin Road and the public boat launch in Green Lake Township.

An autopsy was done on Ruben’s body Wednesday and there were no signs of trauma.

But through their investigation, state police say drugs appear to be involved and they are waiting for toxicology results.

“Troopers responded to the Green Lake public boat access regarding a deceased body that was located by some fishermen,” said Sergeant Scott McManus with the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post.

While troopers were investigating, Grand Traverse County deputies responded to a medical emergency at a home nearby — discovering a possible connection to a woman at the home

Nation-Wide Arrest Warrant Issued for Murder Suspect After Suspicious Death in Brampton

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued after a woman’s death was ruled suspicious in Brampton and Mississauga’s fourth homicide of 2018.

Peel Regional Police say that on Saturday January 27, 2018, at around 7:30 p.m., police arrived on scene at a residence in the area of Kennedy Road and Rutherford Road in brampton.

“Officers arrived on scene and located the victim suffering from obvious signs of trauma,” say police.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased woman with obvious signs of physical trauma in the residence’s basement apartment.

The victim has been identified as Hoden Said, a 30-year-old Brampton woman.

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have identified the person allegedly responsible and issued a Canada Wide Arrest Warrant for second degree murder for Nicholas Anthony Young, a 46-year-old male of no fixed address.

Suspicious-death investigation underway after man’s body found S. of Wichita

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says it is working an active crime scene at 81st Street South and Hydraulic, south of Wichita.

The sheriff’s office says it is investigating the death of a man whose body was found Monday afternoon as suspicious.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Lt. Timothy Myers says the sheriff’s office received a notification at about 2:15 p.m. Monday of a man lying in the ditch next to the road in the 8100 block of South Hydraulic.

“Arriving units located an adult white male that was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Myers says. “We consider this a suspicious death and we are asking for help from the public.”

Myers says anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of 81st South and Hydraulic should call Sheriff’s Investigations at 316-660-5300, or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

Police appeal for public’s help after 30-year-old woman found dead in Brampton

Peel police have released the description of a man seen walking away from a Brampton apartment where a 30-year-old woman was found dead.

Hoden Said was discovered with obvious signs of trauma to her body on Saturday evening.

Const. Iryna Yashnyk, spokesperson for Peel police, said that officers were called to the residence on Hockley Path at about 7:20 p.m.

Yashnyk declined to say who made the call to police, but added that it “wasn’t a random incident.” 

According a police news release, witnesses have told investigators that they heard a “disturbance” inside the apartment at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shortly after, a man was seen leaving the residence on foot.

‘Suspicious’ Death Investigation Under Way After Person Found Dead in Alhambra Backyard: LASD

A person was found dead under “suspicious” circumstances in an Alhambra backyard Thursday afternoon, and investigators are treating the case as a homicide, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Alhambra police responded to the 1200 block South Sierra Vista Avenue about 4:40 p.m. after a woman was reported dead in the backyard of a home, authorities said.
