UPDATE | Victim identified; suspect in custody in Ramada Inn shooting death – WRDW

9:12 p.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — The victim in a suspicious death at the Ramada Inn on the 2100 block of Gordon Highway was shot, and a woman is in custody.

Around 1 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received a call to a room at the Ramada Inn on Gordon Highway. When they arrived they found 50-year-old Michael Davenport dead with at least one gunshot wound.

During the investigation, they learned the suspect to be 40-year-old Leslie Harris of Augusta. Investigators were able to locate and take Harris into custody.

Harris is currently being housed at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center for the charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Person of interest in custody after woman’s suspicious death in … – KABC

A man has been charged with murder in the the death of a woman whose body was found in Whittier.

Rafael Castillo, 56, was taken into custody in Reseda around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Whittier police said.

Authorities said based on information gathered during the investigation, Castillo was charged with murder.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was found dead at an apartment complex in the 11700 block of Floral Avenue Tuesday morning.

The cause of the woman’s death was not immediately known, but authorities are describing the incident as suspicious.

Investigators said the woman and Castillo knew each other — but didn’t elaborate.

Castillo is being held at the Whittier Police Department Jail on $1 million bond. He is set to be arraigned on Thursday.

Warren Mother In Custody After Baby’s Suspicious Death

WARREN (WWJ) – A mother is facing child abuse and possible murder charges after her 8-month-old son died under what police say are suspicious circumstances.

The baby was found dead Thursday afternoon inside in the Warren Manor Apartments on Dequindre near 8 Mile Road.

Preliminary information showed the baby was in the bathtub and drowned. When police arrived, neighbors were doing CPR on the baby.

The mother originally told police the child choked while eating cookies and milk. Investigators are calling the death a suspicious drowning.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The mother has been taken into police custody, and is currently jailed on child abuse charges.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case. An investigation is ongoing.

Teen in Custody in Connection With Woman’s Death in Waltham …

Dominick Knowles woke in the middle of the night to shouting. “There was a woman who was trying to leave the house and someone else wouldn’t let them leave,” he said.

Next door at Adams House, a rooming house on Adams Street in Waltham, Massachusetts, holes were torn through the wood door of number 9 – a tiny room on the third floor.

Bill McCray lives on the second floor. He said, “I heard this loud slamming and banging.”

Another man, who asked not to be identified, said his whole bed shook with the force of whatever was happening in the room next door. “To me, it sounded like somebody took a sledgehammer and just knocked the door right off the jam,” he said.

EVERETT, Wash.– A man was taken into custody Tuesday in Marysville for questioning related to the death investigation of a 50-year-old woman in the South Everett area, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.

The name of that man was not being released.

The deceased woman’s car was found in Marysville at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Twelve hours earlier, authorities responded to a 911 call from the woman’s roommate reporting that she was dead in her bedroom in the South Everett area.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said patrol officers found the scene in the bedroom suspicious, so the major crimes unit is investigating the death. They obtained a search warrant to check out the bedroom where the woman was found.
