Man in custody, police investigating suspicious death after woman found dead in KCMO home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating a suspicious death Wednesday after officers found a woman dead in a KCMO home.

KC Police Officer Darin Snapp said officers were called to a home in the 2400 block of College Avenue for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a woman in her 40’s with no signs of life.

Snapp said the cause of her death is currently unknown but appears suspicious.

A man who was at the home is in police custody, he said.

UPDATE | Victim identified; suspect in custody in Ramada Inn shooting death – WRDW

9:12 p.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — The victim in a suspicious death at the Ramada Inn on the 2100 block of Gordon Highway was shot, and a woman is in custody.

Around 1 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received a call to a room at the Ramada Inn on Gordon Highway. When they arrived they found 50-year-old Michael Davenport dead with at least one gunshot wound.

During the investigation, they learned the suspect to be 40-year-old Leslie Harris of Augusta. Investigators were able to locate and take Harris into custody.

Harris is currently being housed at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center for the charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

A person of interest was taken into custody as police investigate the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in Whittier.

Rafael Castillo, 56, was taken into custody around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Whittier police said.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was found dead at an apartment complex in the 11700 block of Floral Avenue Tuesday morning.

The cause of the woman’s death was not immediately known, but authorities are describing the incident as suspicious.

Investigators said the woman and Castillo knew each other — but didn’t elaborate.

A man has been charged with murder in the the death of a woman whose body was found in Whittier.

Rafael Castillo, 56, was taken into custody in Reseda around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Whittier police said.

Authorities said based on information gathered during the investigation, Castillo was charged with murder.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was found dead at an apartment complex in the 11700 block of Floral Avenue Tuesday morning.

The cause of the woman’s death was not immediately known, but authorities are describing the incident as suspicious.

Investigators said the woman and Castillo knew each other — but didn’t elaborate.

Castillo is being held at the Whittier Police Department Jail on $1 million bond. He is set to be arraigned on Thursday.
