Autopsy reveals ‘suspicious death’ was result of drug overdose, investigators say

Further investigation has revealed that a woman found leaning against a bathtub died early Sunday morning from an accidental drug overdose.

Chief Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman said the 48-year-old woman was surrounded by syringes in the bathroom.

There were other syringes scattered throughout the house, Boseman said.

Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies said they responded to call about a possible cardiac arrest on Whites Drive around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators initially treated the case as a ‘suspicious death’ because there is a history of domestic violence in the home, Boseman said.

Authorities told WYFF that there is also a history of drug use in the home.

Investigators continue to probe suspicious death – Story

The Erie County coroner has ruled the death of a man found inside his east Erie home a homicide following an autopsy Monday.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said Robert McCarthy, 46, died from a stab wound to the neck at his home in the 500 block of East Ninth Street. Cook said he also had burns on his body.

Erie police Chief Don Dacus said McCarthy was stabbed multiple times and it appears his body was burned in an attempt to hide evidence. Dacus said further analysis of burn wounds will be tested to determine whether an accelerate was used.

Erie police initially called the death ‘suspicious’ after McCarthy was found inside his home Sunday morning. His body was discovered after firefighters and police were dispatched to an apartment in the 500 block of East Ninth Street when another
