Suspicious death suspect lived with mother in Palm Springs

RAPID CITY, S.D. –

The latest on a high-speed chase turned suspicious death investigation on Interstate 90.


Jan. 2, 9:20 p.m.

Public records confirm that Tosten Walsh-Lommen lived in Palm Springs, Calif. with his mother. Sources tell NBC that there was heavy police activity at the home the day of the chase, and investigators were seen hauling items from the home.

According to those sources, the vehicle Walsh-Lommen was driving was his mother’s SUV.

A traffic arrest has turned into a suspicious death investigation, led by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.

Tosten David Walsh Lommen, 30, Santa Cruz, Calif., has been arrested on several charges.

Police searching for two missing girls after mother’s ‘suspicious’ death

Police on Tuesday were searching for the two missing daughters of a woman found dead in her home in Texas over the weekend.

Police found Tonya Bates, 44, dead in her home Sunday after conducting a welfare check, according to Round Rock Police Department Chief Allen Banks.

Bates’ death was “of a suspicious nature,” Banks said at a Monday news conference. During their investigation officers found that her daughters, Lilianais Griffith, 14, and Luluvioletta Bandera-Magret, 7, were missing, he said. The two girls lived with their mother.

Martin family still seeking closure after mother’s suspicious death

Piet Retief – The family of a woman, who was the only crucial witness in a murder investigation, is still seeking closure more than a year after her death.

Marlene Martin, 60, died in the streets of Piet Retief in Mpumalanga on July 8, 2016. A vehicle knocked her over while she was walking home from work.

“I never felt so depressed in my life. We were very close as a family and [we are] still not over what happened,” her daughter Hanlie told News24.

The daughter said the family wanted justice.

“The waiting is killing us as a family…we want justice to be done and those responsible should be arrested,” she added.

A police source, who spoke to News24 on condition of anonymity on Thursday morning, confirmed that a murder case had been opened in 2016 in connection with Martin’s death.

Former Kingsburg principal and mother identified as victims of Fresno double homicide

A former principal and her elderly mother have been identified as two people found dead Monday in a Fresno home in what the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office now is calling a double homicide.

Authorities confirmed the women are Jennifer DuPras, 55, and Cynthia Houk, 88.

DuPras was the principal at Washington Elementary School in Kingsburg and recently retired, Wesley Sever, superintendent of Kingsburg Charter School District, said in a letter to parents that was added to a Facebook post.

DuPras worked for the district for more than 26 years and won awards for her work, he said.

Sever described her as “an award-winning principal, a great leader, and incredible mom, and most importantly a friend to all.”
